This campaign is an extension of everything I’ve stood for: Service. Integrity. Accountability. And progress that’s built to last.
Classrooms and Career
My path began in the classroom, teaching at a Juvenile Justice center where I worked directly with young people who needed the most support. That experience taught me that access, empathy, and consistency can change lives, and every role I’ve held since has been about opening doors and creating pathways for others.
From there, my career grew across many areas of education. I served as a Reading Specialist with the Florida Department of Education, Chief of Staff to a School Board Member in Miami-Dade, and later as a school administrator.
As Executive Director in the Office of Community Engagement, I helped secure a $1.2 billion bond referendum and expanded family involvement across hundreds of schools. In the Office of Labor Relations, I worked on fair agreements that impacted more than 30,000 employees.
I also directed the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project, where thousands of young men received mentorship, academic support, and college readiness opportunities. Over the years, I have focused on initiatives in social-emotional learning, restorative justice, and student safety, always centered on equity and opportunity.
Family and Faith
The work I do is grounded in family. For more than two decades, I have shared life with my wife, Farrah, whose leadership in education inspires me daily. Together, we are raising two amazing sons, Triston and Trent, whose energy and determination remind me why this work matters. Family keeps me grounded, and faith keeps me moving forward.
My roots also connect to my mother, Congresswoman Frederica Wilson, whose commitment to service through the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project has influenced generations of young men. Her example reminds me that leadership is not about titles, but about showing up with integrity and fighting for what is right.
Family, along with faith, continues to be my foundation and guiding force. They are the values that keep me steady in every season of life and every stage of service.
Service and Stewardship
My commitment to the community has extended far beyond the classroom. I served nearly a decade as a Governor-appointed member of the Florida Council on the Social Status of Black Men and Boys, helping to shape statewide strategies to close gaps in opportunity. That work reinforced a lesson I carry into everything I do: service is the thread that connects my past, present, and future.
Today, I consult with school systems and state agencies across the country, supporting them in curriculum design, professional learning, and equity initiatives. These efforts continue to strengthen schools and expand opportunities for students and families.
Closer to home, I lead @movethecrowdmiami, a media-based initiative that partners with the NAACP Youth Council and the Evolutionary Arts Life Foundation right here in Miami Gardens. I continue to mentor through the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project and proudly serve as a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
Whether speaking on national stages or engaging with young people in our neighborhoods, my focus has remained steady: to strengthen relationships, create opportunities, and build a city where everyone can thrive.
Paul in the Community
Take a walk with me. This is a window into the path I’ve been walking for decades. A path rooted in presence, service, and unwavering commitment to the people of District 2 and Miami Gardens.
From mentoring young men to organizing clean-up efforts, from hosting community forums, delivering keynote addresses, to leading and supporting youth programs, these moments show what leadership looks like when it steps outside the office and into the heart of the community.
Progress lives where the people are. This is my journey. This is our story. And this is the kind of presence I promise to continue as your next Councilman.
